The Global Climate Observing Programme (GCOS) is looking for experts to join two of its panels: the Atmospheric Observations Panel for Climate (AOPC), and the Ocean Observations Physics and Climate Panel (OOPC).
AOPC was established by the GCOS Steering Committee in recognition of the need for specific scientific and technical input concerning atmospheric observations for climate. The Panels’ expertise is essential for assessing the capabilities, gaps and deficiencies of current climate-observing systems. Their work and discussions contribute directly to the regular reports to the UNFCCC about the status of global climate-observing capacities. OOPC is in charge of assessing the capabilities, gaps and deficiencies of current ocean physics/climate observing systems. OOPC also helps to improve the observing capabilities by encouraging the development of strategies for the ocean observing system evaluation and evolution.
