Xiao YANG

Xiao Yang joined the WCRP Secretariat in June 2026 as a Junior Professional Officer. She holds a PhD in Environmental Economics and has an academic background in geographical information science. Xiao is a Senior Engineer at the National Climate Center of the China Meteorological Administration, where she has supported China’s engagement in major international climate processes, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and activities of the WMO, while conducting research on climate impacts and adaptation at the science–policy interface.

At the WCRP Secretariat, Xiao supports the coordination and implementation of key WCRP activities, in particular the Global Precipitation Experiment (GPEX) and Research on Climate Intervention (R-CI). Her work contributes to the organization of scientific meetings, workshops and expert consultations; the preparation and dissemination of scientific outputs; and engagement with international research communities, operational partners and relevant WMO programmes.
