Carlos Montoya joined the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) in October 2024 as a Project Assistant Intern and currently serves as an Assistant Scientific Officer within the Science and Innovation Department. He supports WCRP’s internal and external communications, as well as information and community management, contributing to international climate research collaboration through meetings, reports, and the management of the WCRP membership database.
Carlos holds a Master’s in International and Development Studies from the Geneva Graduate Institute, specializing in environmental economics and sustainability. Previously, he contributed to international projects with the CyberPeace Institute, interned at the Presidency of Colombia, and worked at the National Agency for Rural Development of Colombia, developing expertise in project management and international policy. His interests focus on the political and financial dimensions of global climate initiatives, particularly in sustainable development.
In his free time, Carlos enjoys exploring new cultures, traveling, and swimming. He is fluent in English and Spanish, proficient in French, and passionate about driving global impact through his work in climate policy.
