David joined the World Climate Research Programme on the 23rd June, 2025. He supports logistical aspects of the "Safe Landing Climates" Lighthouse Activity, including meeting coordination and report preparation. He also assists the Science Officer in implementing the WCRP community platform, focusing on content management and facilitating expert collaboration.
With a background in meteorology and disaster risk management, David has previously worked with the Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services and the Department of Disaster Management Affairs in Malawi contributing to disaster response and climate resilience efforts. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Climate Science from the Malawi University of Science and Technology and is passionate about hyperlocalized weather and climate modeling. He is currently eyeing postgraduate certifications in Data Science as he intends to extract insights from large datasets, which is crucial for developing hyperlocalized weather models. Outside work, David enjoys playing football, producing music and exploring new places.
